There’s snow point going to Lapland: Catch Santa in the French Alps

While Tui has cancelled trips to Lapland due to a lack of snow, ski chalet company Ski Beat recommends the French Alps as an alternative festive getaway.

High-altitude resorts offer the best chance of a snow-dusted trip this holiday season, with many pulling out all the stops to give families a festive holiday to remember. For example, at La Rosiere Santa is taking part in a festive parade, before leading families to his ‘Magic of Christmas’ in the heart of Chemin de la Forêt. Activities include a wishing tree, Santa’s mailbox, photocalls and treasure hunts. A week’s stay in Chalet Perdrix costs £1281pp.

Val d’Isere is celebrating with a Christmas Village, decoration making in the elves’ cabin, concerts, markets and parades and the arrival of Santa Claus on his sleigh delivering presents. A week’s stay in Chalet Cristal costs £1691pp.

La Plagne, which is in the heart of the French Alps, embraces the ‘Magie de Noël’. Families can meet Santa in his chalet, see an elf parade, sip hot chocolate and enjoy festive events, fireworks and ski shows. aOn Christmas Day, Santa Claus will ski between the mountain villages to meet children and families. A week’s stay in Chalet Sorbier costs £999pp.

All above listed Ski Beat trips depart December 21 and include a chalet host to cook breakfast, afternoon tea and three course evening meals with wine, a festive Christmas Day dinner and return flights from Gatwick or Manchester. Val d’Isare and La Plagne also include transfers.
