Los Angeles begins road to recovery

Following wildfires which have ravaged the U.S. state, LA is looking to the future.

Los Angeles has begun recovery and relief efforts following a series of devastating wildfires across the city.

The ongoing flames, which began earlier this month, have ravaged Southern California.

Evacuations have been lifted in the Pacific Palisades, Eaton Canyon and Hughes area.

Many attractions and tourism-related businesses in Los Angeles remain fully operational.

The Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board has issued an updated statement. It said: “Our hearts are with all Angelenos who have suffered loss during this incredibly difficult time and we are grateful beyond words to the first responders and all who have provided aid to our community from across the country and around the world.

“In addition to our own direct support for relief efforts, we are inspired by the way all Angelenos have come together with extraordinary generosity, resilience and compassion, demonstrating the unshakable spirit of our community.”

New culinary programme Dine LA will directly benefit ongoing wildfire relief efforts. For each reservation made, LA Tourism will donate $5, up to $50,000, to the American Red Cross. Banc of California will make a $5 matching contribution, which could double the total donation to $100,000.

The statement continues: “Travellers continuing to visit our City of Angels for leisure, business, and meetings and conventions have never been more critical. In moments like these, tourism does more than drive our economy – it becomes a lifeline in supporting our community’s recovery.”
