Latin Routes has expanded its Central America offering with the introduction of El Salvador and Honduras, completing its collection of destinations across the region. With these two countries now available, travellers can experience the full spectrum of Central America, from volcanic landscapes and ancient ruins to colourful colonial towns and pristine coastlines.
The new ‘Highlights of El Salvador’ itinerary includes a visit to Joya de Cerén, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often dubbed the “Pompeii of the Americas,” offering a rare glimpse into everyday Mayan life.
Travellers can follow the picturesque Ruta de Las Flores, a route renowned for its colonial towns, coffee plantations and artisan markets. The country’s volcanic landscapes, including the dramatic Izalco and mighty Santa Ana volcanoes, provide opportunities for hiking and panoramic views, while the Pacific coastline, especially the surf mecca of El Tunco, is suited to unwinding.
The ‘Highlights of Honduras’ itinerary takes visitors to the UNESCO-listed Mayan ruins of Copán, famed for their intricate stelae and hieroglyphic staircases. Offshore, the Bay Islands of Roatán, Utila and Guanaja beckon divers and snorkellers to explore the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, one of the richest marine ecosystems in the world.
Inland, colonial towns such as Gracias and Comayagua offer a window into the country’s past, while Pico Bonito National Park enchants nature lovers with its cloud forests, waterfalls and abundant wildlife.
Sarah Johnson, Senior Product Executive at Latin Routes, said: “We are thrilled to welcome El Salvador and Honduras into our Central America portfolio. These destinations showcase a remarkable mix of culture, history, and natural beauty that we know our clients will love.
“Completing the collection is not just about geography, it’s about unlocking new opportunities for exploration and discovery, and we are excited to inspire travellers with these incredible journeys.”
