One of Australia’s most iconic attractions is open again after being closed for six years.
Gunlom Falls, in Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory, drew attention after featuring as Echo Lake in the iconic 1980s film Crocodile Dundee.
The site is known for its 85-metre waterfall, natural infinity pool with sweeping views of Kakadu, and crystal-clear lower pool set beside a quiet sandy beach.
The reopening gives visitors not only the chance to experience the area of outstanding beauty but also the chance to recreate a memorable moment from the movie – and it coincides with the release of the re-mastered 4K Ultra HD edition of the Aussie classic ‘Crocodile Dundee: The Encore Cut’.
Other special spots in Kakadu National Park include Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) Rock and Yellow Water Billabong.
Also available in Kakadu in 2025 are several new tours, experiences and accommodation.
These include Algohgarrng Night Tour, a stargazing cruiser on Yellow Water River.
Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp, a private camping experience overlooking the billabong on Murumburr Clan Country with traditional owners; and new hiking and 4WD tours are now available through Indigenous-owned businesses such as Kakadu Cultural Tours new combo tour that traverses the floodplains to reach ancient rock art sites.
There are also new scenic flights, with options from Kakadu Air and North Horizon Heli Adventures, an Indigenous-owned operator, giving visitors fresh ways to explore the park’s stunning landscapes from the air.
Gold Medal has a 10-night ‘Outback Safari: Uluru to Darwin Tour’, with accommodation, tours, transfers and return flights from London Heathrow.
Prices start from £6,179pp based on two adults sharing, departing April 22, 2026.
