Nashville is Icelandair’s 18th destination in North America

Icelandair has introduced its first-ever seasonal service between Nashville, USA, and Reykjavik, Iceland.

The service will operate four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays until the end of October.

Flights will be operated by a Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Passengers can also connect to Icelandair’s European network.

Meanwhile, Southwest Airlines recently launched an interline agreement with Icelandair to connect travellers with transatlantic itineraries.

Passengers can book connecting flights through both Nashville and Denver from May 12.

Tomas Ingason, Chief Commercial Officer at Icelandair, said: “We’re very excited to start this new service between Nashville and Iceland, and we have already had a great reception. This new connection links Music City to Iceland and on to our nearly 40 destinations across Europe.

“Ee also announce an expansion to our partnership with Southwest Airlines, allowing travellers to connect between Southwest and Icelandair via Nashville and Denver onwards to Iceland and Europe. This is in addition to the new Baltimore gateway.”

Doug Kreulen, President and CEO of Nashville International Airport (BNA), added: “This partnership not only strengthens Music City’s role as a global gateway but also creates new opportunities for travellers, businesses and tourism. We are proud to welcome Icelandair and excited for the economic and cultural opportunities this new route will bring to Middle Tennessee.”
