Fiji smashes visitor records in July

The month marked a historic milestone for the Pacific nation

Tourism Fiji has announced that it welcomed 99,311 international visitors in July, the highest number of arrivals ever recorded in a single month.

The figure represents a 1% increase on July 2024 and a 3% rise compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. British travellers were among the strongest contributors, with UK arrivals up nearly 19% year-on-year, marking the highest monthly total since 2020. Of July’s arrivals, 3,132 visitors travelled by cruise.

Despite the surge in demand, Fiji continues to offer travellers an uncrowded experience across its 333 islands.

Visitors can check out Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park, A UNESCO heritage site with an interesting archaeological history; snorkel and dive in the “Soft Coral Capital of the World” at sites including Rainbow Reef, Great Astrolabe Reef, and Beqa Lagoon; or experience local culture and hospitality with a village visit to see a traditional kava ceremony, Fijian dance (meke), and peruse locals markets such as Suva Municipal Market or Nadi Handicraft Market for spices, tropical fruit, and local crafts.

Jane West, Regional Director UK & Europe, said: “Fiji continues to deliver excellent value for British visitors. With the UK pound and euro strong against the Fiji dollar, travellers are finding options to suit their budgets. Stopover routes via the USA and Canada also make Fiji an attractive multi-centre destination for those seeking a long-haul holiday.”

From January to July 2025, Fiji welcomed 543,073 visitors in total, including 7,640 from the UK, keeping the destination firmly on track for another year of robust tourism growth.

Tourism Fiji is also rolling out new initiatives to engage travellers and trade partners, including Wilson’s Happily Ever After, a film and content series celebrating 25 years since Cast Away was filmed in Fiji, and Loloma Hour, the world’s first “happy hour for the environment”, where guests can contribute to reef, wildlife and community projects during their stay.

Trailfinders offers an eight-day, seven night cruise around the Yasawas Islands priced from £2,379pp (based on two adults sharing). The itinerary features snorkelling, visiting scenic bays, and delicious meals.
