British Airways is set to broaden its short-haul network in 2026 with the launch of two new routes: Tivat in Montenegro and Guernsey in the Channel Islands.
Seasonal services between London Heathrow Terminal Three and Tivat will begin on May 14, operating three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the summer.
Year-round flights to Guernsey will launch earlier, on April 19, with a daily schedule from Heathrow Terminal Five.
Tivat: gateway to Montenegro’s Adriatic coast
Montenegro continues to see strong tourism growth, welcoming 2.6 million visitors and 15.6 million overnight stays in 2024, with over 96% coming from overseas. Tivat offers a natural entry point to the country’s scenic Adriatic Riviera, with access to UNESCO-listed Kotor, the lively old town of Budva and the dramatic peaks of Durmitor National Park.
The new British Airways service—departing Heathrow at 08.45, 10.10 or 11.10, depending on the day—will make the journey effortless for UK travellers seeking beaches, culture or outdoor adventure. Return fares start from £172pp.
Guernsey: ready to welcome short-break travellers
The introduction of daily, year-round flights to Guernsey marks a significant enhancement to BA’s domestic network. The island is renowned for its rugged coastline, clifftop paths and rich cultural heritage, including Castle Cornet and the Renoir Walk.
The new service will appeal to short-break travellers, families and business passengers, offering departures from Heathrow at 11.55 and returns from Guernsey at 13.50. Fares start from £101pp.
BA also operates up to 37 flights per week year-round from both Heathrow and Gatwick to Jersey.
“We are responding to customer demand”
Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said the two routes respond directly to customer demand: “Montenegro is an ideal choice for those seeking stunning coastlines and year-round sunshine, and the addition of Guernsey is something we know our customers have been eagerly awaiting.”
He added that the Guernsey launch will provide “conveniently timed connections to more than 20 European destinations,” enhancing access for both holidaymakers and corporate travellers.
BA on a growth path
Both new routes will offer a Club Europe cabin, which includes lounge access at Heathrow, priority boarding, a larger baggage allowance, extra personal space and a full meal service with drinks from the bar. Euro Traveller passengers will also benefit from the airline’s upgraded short-haul experience.
The announcement follows a period of growth for British Airways, which has recently expanded its long-haul network with a new service to St. Louis launching next summer. Short-haul additions have included Graz and Rabat, underlining the airline’s intention to diversify its route map for 2025/26.
