Advantage: All-inclusive evolution leads to growth in bookings

Agent consortium says all-inclusive holidays are now appealing to a wider audience

The evolution of the all-inclusive concept is attracting a more diverse range of clients and boosting sales, according to the Advantage Travel Partnership.

The consortium of independent travel agents says while all-inclusives have been traditionally marketed as good value options for those with smaller budgets, the product has evolved to meet the demands of more discerning customers.

Instead of being focussed on buffet-style dining, all day and night entertainment and cheaper, locally-branded beverages, there’s been a rise in resorts offering à la carte dining, destination-specific activities, branded beverages and five-star service.

The move has been led by premium brands such as Sani, Ikos, and Rixos and by major hotel brands like Hyatt and Marriott expanding their all-inclusive portfolios.

In addition, the all-inclusive concept is no longer confined to beach resorts but has been extended to cruises, ski trips, safaris and eco-resorts, says Advantage.

“We have also observed a concerted effort by destinations such as Spain and Greece to enhance their all-inclusive offerings over the past decade,” said a spokesperson.

Advantage says these trends have led to its bookings to all-inclusive resorts doubling every three to four years since 2018.

Back in 2018 around 7% of bookings through Advantage agents were for all-inclusive holidays, by 2022 this figure had grown to 15%, and by 2025 this has reached 30%.

The figures were shared as Advantage unveiled a new brand, vision, mission and website at its annual conference, which was held in Malta earlier this month.
