Utah had plenty of new product updates to share with the travel media during an IPW press conference in Chicago.

The newly renamed luxury train that operates under the Rocky Mountaineer brand will offer a Salt Lake City extension to its existing route in 2026.

The route will see travellers enjoy a scenic, three-day route from Denver to Salt Lake City. Sights along the way will include the Colorado River and Utah’s iconic red rocks.

Meanwhile, Utah has rolled out the Utah Film Trail, to mark 100 years of film history which began in 1924 with Westerns the Covered Wagon and The Deadwood Coach.
More modern movies include The Chosen and Horizon: An American Saga.

The Film Trail is a series of physical markers at iconic filming locations, from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid to Thelma & Louise to High School Musical.

Many markers have already been established, with a total of 30 planned to be in the ground by fall 2025.

And Utah’s international gateway, Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), is undergoing a $5.1 billion redevelopment, set to be completed by fall 2026. Once finished, the 23rd busiest airport in the U.S. will feature 94 gates, allowing Utah to welcome more travellers from around the world.

Salt Lake City will host the 2034 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

Other attractions in the state include Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capital Reef and Zion which make up Utah’s “Mighty 5 National Parks” to its 15 ski resorts that claim to have The Greatest Snow on Earth.
