United Airlines plans to increase non-stop services between Dublin and the U.S. in 2025, with available seats increasing by over 40% this summer, the airline’s largest-ever capacity from Ireland’s capital.

Starting March 29, United will seasonally double the number of flights between Dublin and Washington D.C. from once to twice daily and will also increase capacity on its Dublin to Chicago O’Hare seasonal service, with the introduction of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft replacing the Boeing 757-200 previously operating on the route.

In addition, United offers year-round daily nonstop flights from Dublin to New York/Newark, as well as seasonal daily nonstop services from Shannon to New York/Newark and Chicago O’Hare.

“With this substantial increase in capacity and expansion of our Dublin schedule, we are delighted to offer our customers in Ireland even greater travel choice when booking their next U.S. getaway for summer 2025,” said Karolien De Hertogh, Director Sales U.K. and Ireland, United Airlines.

“For summer 2025, our customers in Ireland can also benefit from seamless connectivity via our hubs in New York/Newark, Chicago O’Hare and Washington D.C., to or from over 150onward destinations across the Americas.”

A big advantage for those travelling transatlantic from Dublin is “Preclearance” at Dublin Airport, a service that allows travellers to go through U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspections before boarding a flight to the U.S.

Travellers check in and pass through Security as normal, but then undergo another check by CBP officers.

In effect, precleared travellers arrive in the US. as “domestic” arrivals, avoiding CBP and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) inspections and can go directly to their connecting flight or destination.
