Swan Hellenic has a series of four cultural expedition voyages to Brazil in 2027.

The programme begins in April 2027, with three further sailings operating from October to November. The final three voyages can be “daisy-chained” to create a single 29-night exploration sailing from Bridgetown in Barbados through Suriname and along Brazil’s coast to Rio de Janeiro.

The line has also confirmed there is still limited availability on one remaining Brazil sailing in 2026: the six-night Soul, Samba and Sea: Journey to the Heart of Brazil. Priced from $4,025, it departs Salvador de Bahia on October 25, 2026, arriving in Rio de Janeiro on October 31.

The itinerary includes calls at:

  • Itacaré
  • Trancoso
  • Abrolhos Archipelago
  • Búzios
  • Arraial do Cabo

The voyage focuses on Brazil’s coastal culture, beaches and marine biodiversity.

The first new sailing, the nine-night Amazonia in Depth and Lençóis Maranhenses, priced from $6,035, departs Fortaleza on April 17, 2027.

Guests will explore:

  • Itaqui
  • Rio Cajari Extractive Reserve
  • the mouth of the Amazon River
  • Gurupá
  • Breves Narrows

The voyage concludes in Belém on April 26 and includes six days of rainforest exploration.

From October 2027, three voyages can be combined into a 29-night journey. These include an 11-night A Cultural Cruise sailing (priced from $10,550) which departs Bridgetown on October 5, 2027.

Departing Belém the same day, a 12-night Expedition Brazil: From the Amazon Delta to Bahia Shores voyage (priced from $8,195) sails through the Breves Narrows region before calling at Afuá, Itaqui, Fortaleza and Cabedelo, finishing in Salvador de Bahia on October 28.

The final six-night Soul, Samba and Sea: Journey to the Heart of Brazil sailing (priced from $4,100) mirrors the 2026 itinerary, departing Salvador de Bahia on October 28 and arriving in Rio de Janeiro on November 3.

Access to remote Amazonia

Across the programme, guests will explore biodiversity hotspots including the Abrolhos Marine National Park, a breeding ground for humpback whales, and the UNESCO-listed Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.

The voyages also venture into the secluded Breves Narrows, accessible to only a handful of ships, where travellers may spot rare pink river dolphins and explore historic Portuguese forts and rainforest ecosystems.

Coastal highlights include Bahia’s beaches, the Atlantic rainforest around Trancoso and Itacaré, and the iconic landmarks of Rio de Janeiro such as Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer.

Andrea Zito, CEO of Swan Hellenic, said: “We’re incredibly proud of these expertly-curated itineraries. Travelling in exceptional comfort and a refined atmosphere of quiet luxury, guests will be treated to immersive journeys at a relaxed pace through the heart of Brazil.

“Each voyage benefits to the full from SH Vega’s boutique expedition ship dimensions and our deep commitment to sustainability, taking our guests to discover places beyond the reach of almost all other ships, so they can see what others don’t.”
