Canada’s Northwest Territories is renowned as being a leading destination for viewing the aurora borealis and, in summer, experiencing the midnight sun.

Aurora Village, a 25-minute drive from the territory’s capital, Yellowknife, offers daytime activities such as dog team rides and snowshoeing in addition to opportunities to view the northern lights at night.

In the spring of 2026, Northern Lights Odyssey is introducing a small group trip for up to 12 guests. The exclusive, eight-day trip is scheduled just once next year, from March 24 to 31.

Priced from CAD$18,615.00 (approximately £10,100), it includes accommodation at Frobisher Inn in Iqaluit, Nunuvut, and at Blachford Lodge on the tundra of the Northwest Territories. Both destinations are renowned for their aurora activity and the clarity of the sky.

It’s ideal for photographers – experienced or those just hoping to capture images of the northern lights – and includes a photography workshop. Guides lead the group to capture nighttime scenes and remote landscapes.

Cultural experiences are included; so too are guided snowshoeing, hiking and snowmobile tours. For more information about the Northern Lights Odyssey tour, visit arctickingdom.com.

Visitors to Yellowknife in March 2026 can also experience the 31st edition of the Snowking winter festival, featuring snow sculptures, ice slides, a snow castle, concerts and events.
