New boat tours are on offer in Halifax, Nova Scotia, this summer.
Up to eight passengers can enjoy an hour-long all-electric boat tour excursion with Halifax Harbour Tours around the city’s picturesque harbour on the Violet Mac, a no-noise, zero-exhaust 1930s-style vessel.
Options include a Harbour Cruise for $45 per seat; a Harbour Morning Cruise for $500; an Evening Skyline Cruise for $500; a Private Cruise from $360 and Celebration of Life Cruise for $360.
There is also a Music Cruise on Thursday and Friday evenings, featuring a Nova Scotian musician, which begins on June 26 and runs through to September 26.
Those looking to embark on their own maritime adventure can rent a Sea-Doo or kayak from The Harbour Watercraft Tours & Adventures. To explore the harbour from dry land, there are an array of options from Segway Nova Scotia or I Heart Bikes.
For a little retail therapy, the Halifax Seaport District offers everything from artisans and retailers to cafes and galleries, as well as a farmers’ market and museum.
History buffs will love the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, a strategic hilltop fort from 1869. There is a daily cannon fire, which is known as the “noon gun”.
For a taste of local life, visitors can try a famous late-night snack called the donair. The official food of Halifax is made up of a pitta filled with spit-roasted shaved beef, tomatoes, onions and a garlic donair sauce.
Visitors can opt for an array of Halifax tours with Canadian Sky, including a 13-night ‘Self-Drive Nova Scotia & Maritime Magic Treasures’ tour that is priced from £2,379pp.
