Norse Atlantic Airways’ rising popularity as a transatlantic carrier was underlined late last year when the airline recorded its highest-ever load factor in a single month.

Norse achieved a 94% load in December, a 23-percentage point increase from the 71% in the same month in 2023.

The airline operated 434 flights and transported 124,450 passengers across its network and charter operations, a 57% increase in passenger numbers compared to the same period last year. 53% of the flights departed within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time, with a 100% flight completion rate achieved, with 33% of the flights arrived within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time.

Norse operates services from London-Gatwick to five U.S. destinations: New York (JFK), Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, the airline has announced that it will start operations at the new Terminal 6 (T6) at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, starting in 2026.

Terminal 6 is a key component of the Port Authority of New York and  New Jersey’s  $19 billion transformation of John F. Kennedy International Airport into a world-class gateway, with two new terminals, two expanded and modernised terminals, a new ground transportation centre and an entirely new, simplified roadway network.

Currently under construction, it is being developed in two phases, with the first six gates opening in 2026 and construction completion expected by 2028.

Norse Atlantic, which operates from London-Gatwick to JFK Terminal 7, operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, was recently ranked the 15th largest airline at JFK, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey 2023 annual traffic report.

“JFK remains a cornerstone in our network strategy, serving as a gateway between the U.S. and Europe. Establishing Terminal 6 as our main hub in 2026 will enable us to offer an even more seamless and modern travel experience to our passengers,” said Bård Nordhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at Norse Atlantic Airways.

“We are proud to continue our growth at JFK, reinforcing its status as a key hub that supports our vision of making continents and cultures accessible to more people.”

The company’s first flight took off from Oslo to New York on June 14, 2022.
