Canadian Affair has launched a new Alberta itinerary with a focus on history, culture and the area’s fascinating geology.
Visitors who book the tour will walk the province’s lush forests and Badlands, once the domain of dinosaurs, learning about the area’s geological marvels and palaeontology discoveries. The tour will also reveal the culture and history of Alberta’s Indigenous Peoples.
The 15-night trip, priced from £3,459pp, includes 12 nights hotel accommodation, two nights nights in a Sky Watching Dome at Métis Crossing and one night at Glacier View Lodge including dinner and breakfast with a view at Altitude Restaurant.
Activities will include an evening Ice Explorer tour; morning Glacier Skywalk tour; a tour of traditional Métis homesteads; a look at the Métis way of living off the land with an archery experience; a guided tour of Visions, Hopes and Dreams at Métis Crossing Wildlife Park, and a wildlife discovery tour.
Visits to Fort Edmonton Park and Royal Tyrrell Museum are included in the price, as are two hot breakfasts, one lunch and two dinners, including dinner at Métis Crossing.
Travellers will benefit from intermediate car hire with fully inclusive insurance for the full 15 days, with international flights from the UK in economy class also included.
Alberta is famed for its dinosaur heritage, with a variety of dino-themed activities available acfoss the province. Easily accessible from Calgary, the Dinosaur Trail Loop is a 30-mile circular route located in Alberta’s ancient Badlands, while the Royal Tyrrell Museum houses one of the best and biggest fossil collections in the world.
There’s also the Dinosaur Provincial Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site, where five per cent of the planet’s dinosaur bones have been discovered. Visitors can check out ‘the world’s largest dinosaur’ in Drumheller, a toothy T-Rex model which looms 25 metres (86 feet) above the town centre.
The recent BBC series, Walking With Dinosaurs featured palaeontologists in Pipestone Creek in Alberta, which is nicknamed the ‘River of Death’.
