A new upmarket beach club set to open in one of Malta’s popular tourist hot spots this month is set to quickly become the island’s premier destination for luxury ocean-facing lounging and nightlife.
Bagatelle, a French Mediterranean beach club and dining destination with over 15 venues around the world, will open Bagatelle Malta in St. George’s Bay by the end of September.
The beachfront club will feature Mediterranean cuisine and, when evening descends, will transition to a high-energy nightlife venue.
The launch by Lifestyle Group, one of Malta’s most leading hospitality groups, marks a new chapter in the island’s luxury dining and beach club scene.
The venue is divided between indoor areas and an expansive outdoor St. George’s Bay setting, with an elegant restaurant catering to over 180 covers, and a more intimate private dining room for more exclusive occasions.
Outside, the Bagatelle Beach Club offers a terrace and deck overlooking the waters of St George’s Bay, alongside sunbeds designed for all-day relaxation.
A bar and lounge sit alongside the pool area. Inspired by French elegance and island living, the design combines a refined palette of blues and warm oranges with brass accents, wooden boiserie’s and woven textures, creating an indoor-outdoor setting with stunning waterfront views.
The restaurant promises a “Riviera-inspired dining experience”, with a menu that celebrates the best of Mediterranean seasonality, exceptional local produce and dishes designed for sharing.
Guests can expect an array of fresh crudos, refined Mediterranean sharing plates and seasonal specialities such as flowers and courgettes stuffed with fresh goat’s cheese brousse and herb jus, alongside the signature Bagatelle tuna tartare with avocado, Espelette pepper and a bright, elegant vinaigrette.
The menu also includes a whole organic free-range chicken with tarragon, baked in an aromatic salt crust, and locally sourced fish gently cooked in lemon tree leaves.
The club says a cocktail list has been curated “exclusively for its Malta location”.
Known as The Beach of St Julian’s, St George’s Bay is a small sandy cove in the heart of Paceville, Malta’s liveliest party district. One of 10 Blue Flag beaches in Malta, it attracts the under-25s and is usually buzzing from morning until late at night.
On the beach, pedalo and kayak rentals are available, while for thrill-seekers water sports such parasailing, towable rides and jetskis are options.
