Lake Louise Ski Resort has officially opened Richardson’s Ridge, a major new terrain expansion spanning roughly 200 acres and served by the brand-new Richardson’s Ridge Express high-speed quad chairlift.
The addition, the first phase of a multi-season growth plan, introduces five new beginner and intermediate runs plus naturally gladed terrain, offering more approachable terrain for families and progressing skiers alike. It is similar in size to the resort’s established Larch zone.
The Richardson’s Ridge area also builds on recent transformational projects, including the addition of the Summit Quad and the opening of West Bowl, the new Juniper Express and Learning Area, and the new Pipestone Express Heated Bubble six-pack last year.
Lake Louise’s latest expansion comes at a pivotal moment for winter sports in Alberta. The 2025/26 season has delivered record-breaking snowfall across ski areas in the province, with Lake Louise itself shattering a 75-year-old December snow record.
As of late December, the resort reported 282 cm of snowfall for the month alone, the most since records began in 1970, and the snowpack on the upper mountain has risen far above average for this time of year.
