Dominica wants agents to fall for the Nature Island

Become a destination specialist by completing Dominic’s seven training modules

Agents looking to upgrade their knowledge on one of the Caribbean’s lesser known but most scenic destinations should sign up to a brand-new online training programme

The Discover Dominica Authority (DDA)’s training modules, produced in association with Online Travel Training (OTT), designed to give UK travel advisers both the knowledge and the confidence to sell Dominica, known as the “Caribbean Nature Island”.

The self-paced course covers Dominica’s seven tourism pillars: Adventure, Health & Wellness, Romance, Aqua, Culture – Events & Entertainment – plus Agro and Kalinago.

Travel advisors will learn how Dominica is a British Commonwealth country and its two languages are English and French Creole.

They will also discover the island’s key experiences, including its rainforests, 365 rivers, numerous waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, diving and marine experiences, range of wellness offerings (and plentiful yoga), and cultural and community-based tourism.

Many of those waterfalls can be enjoyed (and climbed, with expert guides!), while Dominica’s beaches are both white sand and black sand, with glorious views out to sea. For adventurers, kayaking the western (Caribbean) coast can be accomplished in a week, with overnight accommodation en route.

UK visitors can fly there via Barbados or Miami and then make the short hop to Dominica. A new international airport is under construction and is due to open in late 2027.

“Travel advisers are important partners in connecting their travel clients with Dominica, particularly in our key source markets,” says Marva Williams, CEO of the Discover Dominica Authority. “

This new course allows us to deepen their destination knowledge while expanding our reach among travel professionals who can confidently recommend Dominica to their clients.”

Advisers who successfully complete the training will receive a Certificate of Completion.

The DDA will promote the course initially to travel professionals across the UK, US and Canada, with the training expected to become available on OTT’s France and Germany platforms soon.

Agents can access the Dominica course via Online Travel Training.
