Trips to Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa aim to make safaris more accessible to Gen Z and Millennials

Contiki is on a mission to create travel experiences that “don’t have to break the bank” after expanding its portfolio with four new African safari trips.

Kelly Jackson, Managing Director, Contiki, EMEA said: “We know that the rising cost of living has meant many young travellers are rethinking how or even if they can explore the world, so we’re making sure iconic experiences, like an African safari, remain within reach.”

The holidays start at £1,485 for a six-day ‘Kenya Adventure’ to spot the big five.

A nine-day ‘Cape, Safari and Bushfire Festival’ trip comes in at £1,495, blending live music and culture with wildlife.

Six days in Tanzania is priced from £1,705, while the 11-day ‘Kenya and Tanzania Adventure’, covering both countries in one journey, starts at £3,115.

By bundling everything from transport to accommodation and expert guides, our new Africa trips offer unbeatable value without compromising on adventure.

Jackson continues: “Whether it’s spotting the big five in the Serengeti or meeting Maasai locals in their communities, we’re opening up access to bucket-list moments that don’t have to break the bank.”

This follows a notable rise in demand for Africa-based travel among Contiki’s core audience of 18-35 year olds. Bookings have increased significantly, with Tanzania trips up 11.1% compared to 2024.

Contiki has also reported substantial growth across the region, including a 46.2% increase in bookings to Kruger and Eswatini.

Each itinerary will deliver a classic safari experience with added adrenaline and cultural immersion, without the premium price tag that is typically associated with safari trips.

Guiding each journey is a Trip Manager who’s also a fully trained safari expert, supported by a dedicated driver and on-road chef. Travellers stay in premium campsites, in pre-set tents prepared by the on-ground team, with access to swimming pools at select sites.
