Contiki has expanded its portfolio of active trips with a new set of small-group tours to Nepal. The travel company for 18-35-year-olds says the itineraries will mix culture, wildlife, adventure and must-see landmarks with its signature social style and expert support.
Contiki reports a rise in demand for holidays centred around hiking. A survey of its customers found that two-thirds of respondents named hiking their favourite sort of active trip and one fourth of respondents pinpointed Nepal as a top destination for this type of travel.
The three new trips will take 16-person groups around Nepal, from the capital Kathmandu to the Himalayan mountains.
Kathmandu, Chitwan and Hiking: Starting in Kathmandu, this 10-day tour explores the capital of Nepal alongside a local guide before heading to Chitwan National Park for a morning safari. The journey continues through mountain villages, pine forests and hilltop lookouts, featuring highlights such as sunrise at Nagarkot, local tea shops, and the holy site of Namobuddha, all set against a Himalayan backdrop.
Rates start at £1,105pp for two people sharing, with departures beginning October 16, 2026.
Kathmandu and Chitwan National Park: This six-day trip discovers historic Kathmandu through an expert-led tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square and panoramic views from the 2,000-year-old Swayambhunath Stupa. The itinerary then travels to Chitwan National Park, a sanctuary for endangered one-horned rhinos, Royal Bengal tigers, Asian elephants and other wildlife.
Prices start at £565pp based on two people sharing, with departures from October 16, 2026.

Hiking the Kathmandu Valley: This five-day journey is centered on scenic trekking, including a five-hour hike through Shivapuri National Park’s forests and a four-hour ascent to Kali Mandir, a hilltop temple. The route visits the significant Buddhist pilgrimage site of Namobuddha, passes through mid-hill villages, and offers broad Himalayan views before ending back in Kathmandu.
Rates start at £545pp for two people sharing, with departures commencing October 21, 2026.
“We’re seeing a real shift in how Gen Z and Millennial travellers define a great holiday,” said Kelly Jackson, Managing Director EMEA at Contiki.
“For more than half of our 2025 Voice of a Generation respondents, a mix of experiences on holiday isn’t a ‘nice to have’ – it’s essential. They are telling us they want to be active and explore, connect more authentically with local cultures and ultimately return home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. These new trips tap into that.”
