The new Belmond train will travel to three popular UK destinations

The Britannic Explorer, a Belmond Train, will take its maiden voyage on July 21, making history as the first luxury sleeper train in England and Wales.

Departing from London’s Victoria Station, guests will set off on curated three-night itineraries to some of the UK’s most best-loved regions: Cornwall, the Lake District and Wales.

The maiden voyage will take place July 21 to Wales, followed by Cornwall on July 24.

Each of the train’s 18 cabins have been made in Britain and designed with natural materials, earthy tones and tactile finishes to evoke the elegance of the countryside.

Inspired by the sweeping views of rugged coastlines and organic beauty of the surrounding landscapes, interiors have been created by London-based studio Albion Nord in collaboration with Luke Edward Hall, Mel Campion and Olly Fathers.

Guests can unwind in the privacy of their luxurious cabins and enjoy food by Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan, a pioneer of Britain’s farm-to-fork movement, and Executive Head Chef Sven-Hanson Britt, with a focus on British produce and seasonal menus.

There will also be a dedicated Wellness Suite on board, created in partnership with Wildsmith.

Off-board experiences have been designed to immerse guests in the local culture of each destination. In Cornwall, highlights include sailing and yoga sessions by the sea; wild swimming, rowing and paddleboarding in the Lake District; and scenic valley hikes, wood-fired saunas and art classes in the heart of Wales.

To complement the rail experience, guests can extend their journey with a pre- or post-journey stay at The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, in the heart of London’s Chelsea.

For those choosing the Lake District itinerary, when travelling through The Cotswolds, guests will enjoy a gala dinner at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, A Belmond Hotel, Oxfordshire, Raymond Blanc’s iconic Michelin two-starred manor house hotel.

The Britannic Explorer’s General Manager, Hendrik Huebner, said: “The launch of the Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train, marks a pivotal moment, forging a new chapter in British rail innovation. This British icon embodies the true spirit of adventure. Offering the ultimate luxury on rails, our guests will discover a new perspective on contemporary Britain.”
