America As You Like It has launched a “Native Trails of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado” package, that celebrates Native American Heritage.
Timed to coincide with Native American Heritage Month this November, the four-state, 14-night fly-drive itinerary promises “a unique, culturally captivating travel experience that will see travellers making meaningful connections with Native American heritage while at the same time honouring the living traditions, rich history, and scenic beauty of the American Southwest”.
Highlights of the trip include visits to ancient sites, opportunities to support Native artisans, and access to cultural landmarks that reveal the diversity and resilience of Indigenous heritage.
The itinerary begins with two nights in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where guests can visit markets and historic Route 66 sites that showcase Native American and Spanish cultural influence in New Mexico.
In Canyon de Chelly, Arizona, a Navajo-guided tour will reveal the deep historical significance of the sacred site. On Navajo tribal land, the canyon has provided fertile agricultural grounds and a safe haven for Indigenous communities for centuries.
At Monument Valley, Utah, a Navajo guide will explain the landscape’s cultural importance to the Navajo people, then two nights will be spent in Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado, where activities will include exploring the cliff dwellings of the ancestral Pueblo people, preserved for over 700 years and offering insight into the ingenuity and culture of the Hisatsinom people.

Other highlights (all in New Mexico) include Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to engage with Taos artisans and learn about the site’s cultural significance; Santa Fe, which showcases both ancient and modern Native American culture through art galleries, craft markets and Indigenous-led museums; White Sands National Monument, to explore the white gypsum dunes and learn about the unique ecosystem’s importance to local wildlife and communities; and Carlsbad Caverns, a spectacular network of underground caves cherished by generations in this region.
Throughout the journey, travellers will have the chance to visit Native-owned trading posts, markets, and artisan shops that directly benefit Indigenous artists and craftspeople.
Prices start from £1,435pp, including flights, accommodations, and car hire.
