Luxury accommodation and golf in Tenerife

Tenerife has one of Spain’s best offerings when it comes to luxury accommodation, golfing and premium experiences

Tenerife offers a broad choice of accommodation. Properties on the island rate among the most modern and sophisticated places to stay in Europe.

Notably, Tenerife has one of Spain’s best premium accommodation offerings. Travellers have a choice of four- and five-star resorts. Upscale villas with swimming pools, design-led boutique hotels and characterful rural houses in memorable landscapes also present options on where to stay.

Some guests prefer overnighting in an apartment or a holiday home. Self-catering travellers may find that their base is ideal for enriching interactions with the island’s culture and gastronomy.

In Puerto de la Crus, the Hotel Botánico and The Oriental Spa Garden is a five-star luxury hotel set within 25,000 m² of lush, tropical gardens. It offers 212 elegant rooms and suites, fine dining, an art collection, and an Oriental-inspired spa.

Premium accommodation on Tenerife has a reputation for delivering excellent service and catering for guests’ wellbeing. Numerous establishments have spas that pamper guests. Facials, pedicures and massages are among the treatments that help guests to feel cherished and relaxed.

The Hotel Bahía del Duque recreates a Canarian Colonial-style villa from the 19th century. The seafront property features the Bahía Wellness Retreat and is ideally located for appreciating sunsets and outstanding service. Crafted from volcanic stone, the chic interiors of Las Villas at Bahía del Duque were designed by Pascua Ortega. In lush gardens, each villa has a sun terrace and a plunge pool.

La Tivoli Caleta opened on the Costa Adeje in 2023 with three pools – one with saltwater, one with freshwater and another only for adults. Guests in the five-star resort’s 284 rooms and suites can book treatments at Tenerife’s first Anantara Spa.

Nearby, the 271-room Hotel Jardines de Nivaria underwent a major refurbishment in 2025. With a heated outdoor pool, it offers direct access to Fañabé Beach. Its highly-regarded fine-dining restaurant, La Cúpula, serves Canarian and French dishes.

Near Puerto Colón, the Hyatt Ziva Jardin Tropical Tenerife offers premium all-inclusive stays. Pilates, yoga and spinning classes are available to guests, who can experience wellness treatments in cabanas overlooking the ocean.

Accommodation on Tenerife

The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama has 459 rooms, including penthouses and suites. The Retreat, within the five-star resort, offers enhanced privacy while The Citadel, a Moorish-inspired hub, has shops, lounges and restaurants.  The property is well placed for playing the 18 holes at Abama Golf, a course designed by Dave Thomas.

In recent years, there has been a proliferation of luxury openings and redevelopments, including the Gran Hotel Taoro in Puerto de la Cruz. Established in 1890 as Spain’s first luxury hotel, renowned figures such as Agatha Christie and the Duke of Kent were among patrons.

The property reopened in 2025 with 199 rooms and suites and three heated outdoor pools. Its Sandára Wellness Centre offers exclusive treatments and spectacular views of the Orotava Valley and Mount Teide.

Europe’s longest infinity pool is a feature of the five-star Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora. At Guia de Isora, the beachfront property is notable for its seafood restaurant, Dos Naifes by Jorge Peñate, and suites- and adults-only on-site boutique hotel, RedLevel at Gran Melia Palacio de Isora.

Upscale accommodation options include the Hacienda del Conde Meliá Collection Golf and Spa. Well-placed for exploring Teno Rural Park, the five-star property is an adults-only resort-hotel with infinity pools.

Holistic treatments are offered overlooking the Atlantic in its ALQVIMIA spa. The hotel offers easy access to the lush Buenavista Golf Course, designed by the three-time Open Championship winner Severiano Ballesteros.

Golf on Tenerife

Tenerife is an excellent year-round destination for golfers. The island’s spring-like climate and its excellent golfing facilities make it a popular option for golf holidays.

The island has eight professional-grade golf courses and playing Tecina Golf, a Donald Steel-designed course on nearby La Gomera, is also an option.

Set in a botanical garden by Playa Santiago, the adjacent four-star Hotel Jardin Tecina has more than 400 rooms and Spa Ahemon. With Balinese beds and two outdoor Jacuzzis, Pura Vida by Jardin Tecina is an adults-only enclave with villa suites.

Steel also designed Golf Las Américas’ par-72 course, which is popular with visiting players. So too is Golf Costa Adeje. Designed by Pepe Gancedo it has a total of 27 holes and offers fine views of La Gomera.

By San Blas Natural Reserve on the island’s south coast, Golf del Sur is an 18-hole course that opened in 1987. It was remodelled by two-time Ryder Cup player Manuel Piñero. With links-style details, it offers experienced golfers a technical challenge but is suitable for players of all levels.
