Where the wild things are

VUSA 30th

For an intimate and exclusive experience among the wildlife in two of the USA’s most iconic destinations, agents should consider specialist operator Gather Away, says Sally Brunning of Marketing Worldwide, the company’s UK rep.

Tell us about Gather Away and the curated experiences the company offers in two of the USA’s iconic destinations.

Gather Away is a specialist operator with many years of experience curating truly exceptional wildlife experiences in Yellowstone and Jackson Hole.

With a focus on private, guided tours, they offer a uniquely personalised way to explore the park’s most awe-inspiring landscapes and diverse wildlife, venturing into Yellowstone’s wildest, most untouched corners.

Their highly experienced guides are deeply in tune with the rhythms of the land and animal behaviours and take guests off the beaten track to discover the park in a way that few others experience.

Imagine seeing a gathering of thousands of elk, with wolves in pursuit, or capturing the misty atmosphere of bison at dawn, often before other visitors are even awake.

By focussing on taking guests off the usual roads and paths, and with the use of high magnification scopes, guests are treated to incredible wildlife viewings that are up close and personal

The guided tours take guests into Yellowstone’s wildest, most untouched corners –what does this mean in terms of the visitor experience?

Travelling by private snowcoach in winter on roads that are inaccessible to regular vehicles, guests witness Yellowstone’s serene winter beauty without the typical summer crowds.

They venture into the Madison River corridor, the seven-mile corridor that parallels the Madison River where many species of birds and mammals’ winter along this scenic route.

They then witness the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River with its impressive cascading waterfalls of ice.

In peak summer season, it means getting off the beaten path on trails with a naturalist guide who offers both expert interpretation and experience in managing wildlife encounters safely.

And it means looking for tracks and wildlife while on foot, for an intimate experience in nature and knowing when to visit the iconic sights to minimise crowds.  Guests are guaranteed an exclusive experience no matter how many other visitors are enjoying Yellowstone.

What kind of wildlife encounters are on offer on a Gather Away tour?

Wolves, bears (grizzly and black bears), moose, elk, fox, coyote, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, bison, pronghorn, eagles, badgers, raptors, pika and so much more.

All viewings are enhanced with high quality optics – that’s binoculars and spotting scopes – to bring the wildlife viewing up close and personal.

How can UK travel agents work with the company, either via tour operators or directly?

Agents can book directly with Gather Away but because the company offers something quite different, for specialist knowledge and advice we would suggest booking through a dedicated American operator such as Purely America and Journeyscape.

Do you have any trade activity planned for travel agents and tour operators, such as evening events, training nights or fam trip opportunities?

We are happy to arrange trainings. Also, Gather Away is planning to offer a winter 2027 fam trip. We are also planning webinars, blogs, social media coverage, etc, through 2026.

Who should agents contact if they want to discover more about the company and experiences they offer?

In the UK, please contact Helen Simmans (helen@marketing-worldwide.co.uk) , Sally Brunning (Sally@) or Lucy Tyler (Lucy@) from Marketing Worldwide in the first instance – we would be happy to help. We can also be contacted on 01883 349889.

What do you hope to achieve by joining the Visit USA Association and will you be signing up for any of their events in 2026?

We attended the VUSA Thanksgiving event in November 2025, which was a fun, social evening in London to introduce ourselves and network with the American trade, across all the U.S.

It was a great way to meet new tour operators and agents and to introduce them to something new and exciting. We are looking at doing one of the VUSA webinars jointly with a tour operator partner and will look at the media events too.
