Kenward will be charged with ensuring that the association remains visible and relevant, offering members added value opportunities and with attracting new members and associate members.
Kenward has almost 30 years’ experience in the travel industry and has worked as a board director for ATTA (African Travel & Tourism Association) for the past 18 months, the last six of which was as their managing director. Prior to this Kate undertook the executive director role at AITO (The Specialist Travel Association) for 11 years, raising their brand and lobbying profile while leading their strategic and digital transformation.
She brings a wealth of tourism knowledge and association experience to the CEO role, along with a passion for travel and the USA.
Speaking of her new role, Kenward said: “I know I’m going to enjoy my role as the CEO of Visit USA UK – what an eclectic and dynamic membership we have.
“While the USA has the vast landscapes, glorious beaches and waterways, fantastic flora and fauna, incredible cities and manmade phenomenon found in some other destinations, it remains quite incomparable – which is down to the people, their history and ‘can do’ culture as well as all the great attractions.
“That’s why the USA remains a firm favourite with British travellers.
“She added: “We have all certainly had our fair share of challenges over the past two years. But the great travel ‘reconnection’ has started and we look forward to meeting our colleagues again at our forthcoming agents roadshow in London on October 5 and Manchester on October 6. There will be plenty of satisfyingly familiar icons to connect with along with some surprisingly new gems to discover.
