Virgin Atlantic to expand codeshare with WestJet

The agreement will strengthen connections between Canada and the UK

Virgin Atlantic is set to expand its codeshare agreement with WestJet.

The agreement, which will commence on March 30, 2025, aims to strengthen connections between Canada and the UK, as well as with key regions such as India.

It will coincide with the launch of Virgin Atlantic’s new Toronto route, also on March 30.

Both airlines will be co-located at Toronto Pearson International Airport’s Terminal 3. Passengers will be able to transfer through Toronto Pearson without needing to collect and re-check their baggage to their final destination.

The first phase of the agreement will allow travellers booking through Virgin Atlantic to connect from their preferred city on a WestJet flight via Toronto Pearson onwards to Heathrow Airport with Virgin Atlantic on one ticket.

There are 13 eligible cities, including Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Ottawa.

Flights are now on sale for tickets to Heathrow Airport via Toronto.

Juha Jarvinen, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Atlantic, said: “Canada is an incredibly important opportunity for Virgin Atlantic as many of our customers travel between the Great White North, the UK, India and beyond.

“This expanded partnership with WestJet, alongside our partners at Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM, will create seamless connectivity for our customers via our new route launching between Toronto and London. Our codeshare agreement with WestJet aims to respond to a continued demand for travel to the UK and India from across the region.”
