Selling Travel is proud to launch its Travel for Every Body campaign, championing and raising awareness of the importance of accessible travel.

As part of the campaign, Selling Travel has added a new Accessible Travel hub to its website which aims to help agents cater to clients with additional travel needs.

The new hub, which can be found at sellingtravel.co.uk/hubs/accessible-travel, will be updated regularly with first-hand accounts from travel agents with disabilities and additional needs, updates on accessibility initiatives and in-depth features on how agents can better serve clients with accessibility needs.

We have also committed to covering accessible travel in every issue of our print magazine.

First-hand experience

The campaign has been inspired by Julie Baxter, former Deputy Editor of Selling Travel, whose life changed when her jet-setting daughter Chloe was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Like many with challenging conditions, Chloe was determined to still live life to the fullest and became part of a large and growing market of travellers keen to book but in need of a little special attention.

Julie has used her experiences travelling with Chloe to raise awareness on key issues including accessibility on airlines as well as highlighting industry leaders in accessible travel.

Julie said: “Well informed, knowledgeable and caring travel agents have a huge opportunity to make a difference for those living with disabilities and challenging diagnoses. Often these travellers have money to spend and the motivation to spend it on travel but face unnecessary hurdles when trying to booking. They need certainty around services, facilities and support to give them the confidence to set off.

“Any agent willing and able to help them navigate their journey will be a friend for life!”

Jessica Pook, Editor of Selling Travel, said: “The travel industry is starting to recognise what it means to be fully inclusive and how important it is to cater to those with additional travel needs.

“We hope that the new Accessible Travel hub and Travel For Every Body campaign will highlight some key issues within this sector and help agents to create itineraries that cater to Every Body.”

The hub will be updated regularly with content ranging from How to Sell guides to first-hand advice from specialist travel agents.

Get involved

We would love to hear from anyone who has a story to tell and would like to be involved with the Travel for Every Body campaign. We invite tourist boards, tour operators, hotels, airlines and more to share their accessibility news and recommendations, and agents with accessibility needs to share their thoughts.
