10 destinations on clients’ 2027 wishlists

Whether its hotly anticipated openings or far-flung places stepping into the spotlight, this is what agents should be booking.

Abercrombie & Kent’s (A&K) global experts have revealed the places that should be on travellers wish lists in 2027.

1) Easter Island, Chile

Why go now: Set-jetting will continue to appeal, with destinations becoming the main character. One of the globe’s most remote inhabited islands takes a lead role in Martin McDonagh’s comedic thriller Wild Horse Nine, opening in theatres in November.

Wild Horse Nine was filmed on Easter Island (or Rapa Nui) and made its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, winning Best Actor honours for its star John Malkovich.

The film follows a pair of CIA agents who leave Santiago and travel to Easter Island. Surrounded by the iconic Moai stone ancestral “heads” of the island, they meet two students threatening to send everyone’s trip spiralling.

Do it the A&K way: A&K has partnered with Searchlight Pictures to create Wild Horse Nine: An Easter Island Adventure, a tailormade journey inspired by the film and the extraordinary places it features.

Start in Santiago, exploring sites connected to the film and the events around the 1973 coup, before travelling to Rapa Nui. Go beyond the film’s landscapes to discover the island’s history, culture and ancient moai through expert-led explorations and encounters with the local community.

2) Jaipur, India

Why go now: In 2027, significant anniversaries put the spotlight on old favourites seen in a new light.

Jaipur remains one of India’s greatest cultural capitals, three centuries after Rajasthan’s Pink City was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II on 18 November 1727.

Royal palaces and extraordinary architecture sit alongside bazaars and artisans. Improved road connections means Jaipur is now easier to reach, with a new highway cutting the drive from Delhi from around seven hours to as little as three.

Do it the A&K way: A&K’s Taj Mahal & the Treasures of India small group journey pairs Jaipur with some of northern India’s defining cultural landmarks, while India by Private Jet offers a seamless way to experience the country in 12 days.

3) Denali Highway, Alaska

Why go now: In 1957, the opening of the Denali Highway provided the first road access to Denali National Park. Seventy years on, the 135-mile route remains one of Alaska’s great wilderness drives and one of its least-crowded.

Do it the A&K way: After experiencing Denali National Park by road and helicopter, travel along the Denali Highway to Paxson before continuing on to Valdez on the Alaska: Wilderness, Denali and the Last Frontier. This route offers dramatic tundra views, the Alaska Range to the north, lakes and rivers and the chance to spot caribou, moose and Dall sheep without the crowds

China

Why go now: In 2027, new openings and experiences are inviting the rediscovery of places that have captivated travellers for generations.

China is poised for a return to the luxury travel spotlight, with A&K seeing a sharp rise in demand and 2027 bookings outpacing previous years.

In 2027 it’s the 30th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover, putting the focus on a city that’s transformed dramatically since then. A&K is introducing two new ways to experience the region, by air and by sea.

Do it the A&K way: New for 2027, China by Private Jet explores classic sights and off-the-beaten-path destinations in under two weeks. A&K x Crystal Cruises: An Epic Voyage Around Southeast Asia ends in Hong Kong, allowing travellers to add on a four-day extension.

A&K’s flagship journey Iconic China and a Yangtze Cruise combines Beijing and Shanghai with the Terracotta Warriors, giant pandas and the storied Yangtze River. Mountains and Myths in China and Tibet reveals a different side of the region.

4) Nile River, Egypt

Why go now: The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum marked a new chapter for Egypt. With a wave of luxury hotel openings, including Mandarin Oriental’s restoration of the legendary Old Cataract in Aswan and Winter Palace in Luxor, there has never been a better time to book.

On the Nile, A&K debuts its Nile Seray, an A&K Sanctuary. The all-suite riverboat features 32 private suites and expansive outdoor spaces alongside rare access for guests. That includes after-hours visits to the Valley of the Kings, exclusive access to select tombs and expert-led explorations with leading Egyptologists.

Do it the A&K way: Fifty years after A&K founder Geoffrey Kent was inspired by a chance encounter with David Niven on the set of Death on the Nile in 1977, A&K continues to redefine the luxury Nile cruise. Experience the new Nile Seray on Egypt and the Nile and Egypt and the Nile: A Private Journey.

5) Tanzania

Why go now: There’s a new reason to visit Tanzania’s safari circuit in 2027. Beyond the well-known Serengeti, Tarangire offers a different side to the country, with ancient baobab trees, vast elephant herds and wildlife along the Tarangire River.

Pair it with the newly transformed Ngorongoro Crater Camp, an A&K Sanctuary, now in a new location inside the gates of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering guests early access to the crater.

Do it the A&K way: The A&K Sanctuary Tanzania Safari pairs two exceptional settings with the Serengeti, with stays at the Ngorongoro Crater Camp and Swala Camp, an A&K Sanctuary, tucked into a secluded corner of Tarangire National Park. Or travel with a small group of wildlife enthusiasts on Classic Tanzania Safari.

6) Hunter Valley, Australia

Why go now: 2027’s most exciting places may be familiar by name but still largely undiscovered by luxury travellers.

Australia’s oldest wine region has historically lacked the luxury accommodation found in the world’s other great wine regions, but that’s about to change in 2027.

Laval Hunter Valley is a £98 million ($130 million) resort and the region’s first major new-build luxury opening in around 20 years. It opens in a big year for Australia; the Rugby World Cup arrives in autumn and Qantas is planning its first non-stop Sydney-to-London service in October, 80 years after the original multi-stop Kangaroo Route connected Australia and Britain.

Do it the A&K way: A&K’s Australia experts can incorporate the Hunter Valley into a private tailormade journey, pairing vineyard experiences and private tastings with Sydney and the country’s wider highlights. Or explore the continent on Australia by Private Jet, then extend the journey with a tailormade stay in the Hunter Valley.

7) Georgia

Why go now: This once under-the-radar corner of the Caucasus is attracting new attention with record numbers heading to Georgia and improved air connectivity making easier to access.

Georgia is a compelling mix of ancient history, an 8,000-year-old winemaking tradition and dramatic mountain landscapes that travellers are keen to explore in 2027.

In 2027, A&K will take guests deeper into the region with the launch of a new journey through Georgia and neighbouring Armenia, connecting two ancient cultures at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.

Do it the A&K way: Venture to the heart of the Caucasus on Armenia and Georgia: Cultures of the Caucasus, exploring two former Soviet republics that share incredible scenery and thousands of years of rich cultural heritage.

Journey across Georgia, from the cultural treasures of Tbilisi to the vineyards of Kakheti and the mountain passes of the Great Caucasus, with private music performances bringing the country’s artistic traditions to life

8) Uyuni Salt Flats, Bolivia

Why go now: At more than 10,000 square kilometres, Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat on earth, a seemingly infinite white landscape where scale, depth and horizon disappear.

By night, the altitude and absence of light pollution reveal some of the Southern Hemisphere’s clearest skies. Although one of Bolivia’s most visited destinations, overnight accommodation directly on the salar is rare.

But that’s set to change in 2027, with the opening of A&K Sanctuary’s newest camp, giving guests the rare opportunity to stay directly on the flats.

Do it the A&K way: In late 2027, A&K Sanctuary opens Samkani Camp on Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni. Five architect-designed Airstream suites will offer privacy and comfort, with a sixth serving as the camp’s central dining and lounge space. Travellers can experience Samkani Camp as part of an A&K tailormade journey or small group journey to Bolivia.

9) El Calafate, Argentina

Why go now: The gateway to Los Glaciares National Park is heading towards a new chapter, with a series of openings in late 2026. Explora El Calafate is a new all-inclusive luxury lodge in Argentine Patagonia opening in December.

Moreno Camp is a boutique glamping experience overlooking Los Glaciares National Park and Estancia Cerro Castillo has just 10 domes accessible by road, boat or helicopter. At Nativos, the menu comes with views of the region’s glacial landscapes.

Do it the A&K way: Explore El Calafate and Patagonia on a private journey, Patagonia Epic Adventure, tailored by A&K’s local experts. From walks with local guides, thrilling wildlife encounters, horseback rides and cruises, expect to end each day in the region’s newest and most show-stopping hotels.

10) Atlantic Canada

Why go now: Canada’s Atlantic Coast offers an often-overlooked story featuring Indigenous cultures, including the Mi’kmaw and Mi’gmaq, alongside Acadian communities and generations of maritime traditions.

Exceptional seafood, foraging traditions and indigenous culinary influences are gaining attention, while the region’s fishing communities and coastal farms tell a broader story about seasonality and sustainability.

Do it the A&K way: A&K has two new ways to explore by air and sea. Visit the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Québec on the A&K x Crystal Cruises: Autumn in New York and Canada. Or discover a wider sweep of the country aboard Wild Canada by Private Jet, including a stay at the iconic Fogo Island Inn.
