Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is set to host a dedicated B2B Tokyo City Promotion event in London on February 1, 2023.
The event is designed to support agents and help to maximise bookings to Japan following the reopening of the country’s borders.
Travel agents, tour operators and media will be able to meet with Tokyo accommodation, airline, rail, ground handlers and experience providers to learn about new product on offer in 2023.
Highlights will include new properties by Aman Resorts Ltd, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, EDITION Hotels, IHG Hotels & Resorts/Hotel Indigo, TOKYU HOTELS, and TRUNK; as well as a number of new attractions, such as a Harry Potter Studio, Jurassic World exhibition and a new subterranean space for TeamLab’s hugely popular immersive art experiences.
In addition, urban development projects set to open include Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, Tokyo MidTown Yaesu, and Toranomon-Azabudai Project.
The free event will feature meetings between buyers and sellers, networking opportunities, the chance to make Japanese wagashi sweets, and a Discover Tokyo 2023 reception evening event celebrating the flavours of Japan. Agents will also have the chance to win a trip to Tokyo.
Flight capacity from the UK to Japan is set to return to pre-Covid levels in the new year when Japan Airlines (JAL) resumes its double-daily service between London and Tokyo from February 12.
Currently JAL operates 11 flights a week, but this will increase early next year to 14 flights per week.
Meanwhile, Finnair recently boosted its Tokyo services from seven to nine flights a week to coincide with the reopening of the country’s borders.
