The Flying Scotsman will return to the heritage East Lancashire Railway in 2026, marking its first appearance on the line in three years.
The iconic engine takes passengers on a nostalgic steam journey through Lancashire, recreating the golden age of rail travel. The round-trip experience lasts approximately 75 minutes, travelling from Bury to Rawtenstall through scenic countryside, postcard-perfect villages, viaducts and tunnels.
A two-day break, departing on June 6, 12 or 14, 2026, is priced from £199pp (based on two sharing). The package includes return coach travel from a wide range of pick-up points across the South, South East, Midlands, East Anglia, North East and Yorkshire, plus overnight accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
For those travelling from further afield, a three-day option is available from £279pp, departing on June 12, 2026. This includes return coach travel from pick-up points across the South East, South and South West, along with two nights’ accommodation with dinner and breakfast (based on two sharing).
Both itineraries include the Flying Scotsman steam journey, as well as free time to explore the market town of Bury and the city of Liverpool, making the breaks appealing to both dedicated rail enthusiasts and leisure travellers alike.
