Thailand peaking for Gold Medal

Thailand is “the place to be” in 2024, according to Gold Medal.

The tour operator says it saw heavy demand for the destination this peaks with bookings up 30% year-on-year – equating to 12% of all bookings for the trade-only specialist.

Phuket (up 30%) was the most popular Thailand resort, followed by Bangkok (20%), Khao Lak (80%) and Krabi (plus 100%).

Single-centre and twin-centre bookings both saw growth compared to the same period last year, but the trend for multi-centre trips is also accelerating, with bookings for these holidays 40% on last year.

Deborah Wadhams, Head of Long-Haul Product for Gold Medal commented: “Thailand is a seemingly limitless destination, offering bustling cities, tropical jungles and some of the best beaches in the world – it is no wonder that we are seeing a growth in bookings across the board – couples, solo travellers and families – all wanting to experience the beauty and awe-inspiring variety of the country.”

“Not only are customers venturing to different areas across Thailand, but we have also seen they are choosing to spend more on their holiday this peaks than in previous years.”

A twin-centre 13-night holiday combing eight nights at Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort, Krabi, with five nights at Pimalai Resort and Spa, Koh Lanta, starts from  £1,789pp, with flights from London Gatwick with Emirates.

Manchester flights with Emirates are available (from £1,899pp) as are Edinburgh departures with Qatar Airways (from £1,849pp).

The above prices are valid for departures September 12-19 2024.
