The Steam Dreams Rail Co has rolled out a new four-day Christmas Market Holiday in Edinburgh.
The festive exploration will depart from London’s King Cross on 23 November 23 at 9am and return on November 26 at 9pm.
A Deltic Diesel locomotive, bedecked with restored vintage carriages, will make the journey from London to York. The train will then meet the steam locomotive 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley to complete the journey.
It will be the 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley’s first appearance with Steam Dreams this year, sporting a brand-new BR Express Blue Livery.
On arrival, guests will get the chance to explore the famous Edinburgh Christmas Market, which was voted ‘Best Christmas Market in Europe’ by National Geographic in 2021.
Passengers can also opt for an optional lunchtime tour on Saturday 25 November across the Forth Bridge, round the Fife Circle to Alloa and on to Stirling, before returning to Edinburgh.
Tickets include three nights hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis from £598 per person. Guests can also book a travel-only option from £349.
Visitors can choose to travel in one of three classes: Pullman Style Dining, First Class and Premium Standard. Those in Pullman Style Dining will be treated to a bespoke, seasonal menu designed by Executive Chef, Nicholas Allen.
Juliet Soley from Steam Dreams said: “Our Christmas market tours are always extremely popular, as are our holidays. We are overjoyed to be able to offer a unique combination of both this festive season.
“Edinburgh is a delightful city at any time of year, but even more so at Christmas with the enticing smells of mulled wine and roasting chestnuts, festive lights, live music, and jovial atmosphere, as well as wide selection of yuletide goodies, handcrafted gifts, and unique souvenirs on hand.
“This nostalgic Christmas escape combines steam travel with plush vintage interiors, great food and wine, outstanding service, an array of handpicked high-class hotels amongst world-famous tourist attractions -and above all – the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed and stress-free festive getaway.”
