St Helena Tourism rolls out training programme

St Helena Tourism has rolled out a training programme for travel agents and tour operators.

The new Online Travel Training (OTT) programme has been designed to promote and increase awareness of St Helena and its offerings.

The OTT will include facts about the island’s diversity and attractions. New brochures and materials are available to download via the course.

Travel professionals also have the chance to win one of two fam trip packages to the island. To enter, they must complete St Helena’s OTT course by December 15 2023.

The prize includes a six-night B&B stay, as well as well as tours and tastings at a St Helena coffee plantation and the St Helena Distillery.

There will also be a five-course country estate dinner at Farm Lodge, a sunset boat cruise, a dark history tour led by the Museum of St Helena, full island tours and a home-cooked boutique dinner. The package will be valid until December 13 2024.

The training consists of five sections, starting with an ‘Island Overview’, focusing on location as well as accessibility, climate and safety. The second is titled ‘On Land’ featuring St Helena’s diverse landscape, development, and biodiversity, including hiking and history.

The third section delves into the island’s marine life and water sports. The fourth covers St Helena’s culture and cuisine, while the fifth lesson is about planning a visit. Ten top selling tips will be provided alongside the lessons, too.
