Exodus invites travellers to experience a gorilla baby boom in Uganda’s Bwindi’s Impenetrable National Park.

Last month, two babies were born to mountain gorilla families in Uganda. The news of these births follows on from the reporting of two babies born in January.

Four mountain gorilla births in just five months is a significant number and welcome news; in the whole of 2019 there were only three gorilla births in Bwindi. This boom in births is testament to the conservation efforts of the wildlife authority and gives visitors a better chance of seeing very young gorillas in the park.

A close encounter with a mountain gorilla is considered one of the most emotional wildlife experiences, and on this Exodus Travels trip, an experienced guide will lead visitors through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, tracking these endangered animals. The trek follows steep trails through the forest, with the reward of spending an unforgettable hour watching gorillas in the wild. The number of permits issued are limited so early booking is recommended.

Exodus’ 12-day Chimps and Gorillas of Uganda guided trip is priced from £5,149pp including return flights from London, accommodation, breakfast daily, ten lunches and nine dinners, all transport, listed activities, tour leader throughout and one chimp and one gorilla permit. Available 2022 departures: September 10, October 1, and November 5.

Uganda is renowned for its wildlife, and this tour is perfect for discovering the landscapes that are teeming with animals, from hippos to elephants, leopards to lions and from chimps to gorillas. Travellers will also explore the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary as well as trekking into the Kibale forest to see grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed monkey and chimpanzee.
