For travel agents who may be new to Siwash Lake, how would you describe the ranch and the experience you offer?
Located in British Columbia’s Cariboo region, Siwash Lake is a remote, family-run wilderness ranch providing an all-inclusive luxury experience that is grounded in authenticity rather than spectacle.
Surrounded by forests and lakes, Swash Lake Wilderness Resort and Ranch offers guests the chance to experience a truly wild environment while still enjoying a high level of comfort and thoughtful, personalised service.
Following a major wildfire in 2017, the land has regenerated naturally, with returning wildlife and open landscapes now forming a defining part of the guest experience.
The days are shaped by the rhythms of nature. Guests come here to slow down, spend time outdoors and reconnect with nature through horses – which roam freely across the property – wildlife and wide-open landscapes. It is immersive, personal and deeply restorative.

Can you share a brief overview of the history of Siwash Lake and how your family connection has shaped it.
Siwash Lake has been in our family for over three decades and that long-term relationship with the land influences everything we do.
We have always seen ourselves as stewards rather than owners, and that philosophy shapes how we care for the land, our horses and our guests. It is about respect, responsibility and continuity.
How does the ranch’s remoteness enhance the guest experience, and who does it appeal to most?
Our sense of remoteness is one of the defining aspects of the Siwash Lake experience. Set deep within a vast wilderness landscape, the ranch offers a rare feeling of space and separation from everyday life.
It appeals to travellers who value privacy, authenticity and immersion, particularly those who have already experienced traditional luxury travel and are now seeking something more meaningful and nature-led – in short, somewhere to shut out the ever-increasing noise.
Horses are central to the experience. Do guests need riding experience to enjoy Siwash Lake?
No, not at all. While many guests are experienced riders, others have never been on a horse before.
Our focus is on connection rather than performance, and we take time to match each guest with a horse that suits their comfort level and energy.
Even guests who choose not to ride often find that their time spent with the horse is life changing. This year we will be launching our first equine wellbeing program, aimed at showing guests the real meaning of horsepower.

Can you explain the Siwash Synergy™ with Horses programme?
Siwash Synergy™ with Horses focuses on building trust, awareness and presence through working with horses in a natural, intuitive way.
It is not a technical riding programme, but a shared experience that encourages communication, confidence and connection.
As well as individual guests, it is particularly well suited to small groups and corporate bookings, where teams can develop trust, leadership and collaboration in a calm, distraction-free environment. Many guests leave feeling more grounded, confident and connected, with benefits that extend well beyond their stay.
Beyond riding, what activities should agents highlight when selling Siwash Lake?
Guests can enjoy guided hikes, wildlife viewing, fly fishing, wild swimming, forest bathing, yoga, stargazing and wildlife tracking.
Each stay is bespoke, allowing guests to follow their own rhythm and choose how active or relaxed they want to be on any given day.

What wildlife might guests encounter during a stay?
Wildlife encounters are a natural part of life at Siwash Lake. Guests may see moose, deer, bears, river otters and birds of prey, as well as smaller species returning as the land regenerates.
Sightings happen organically rather than on scheduled excursions, which makes them feel especially authentic.
Sustainability and regeneration are increasingly important to travellers. How does Siwash Lake approach this?
Sustainability here is rooted in long-term stewardship. After the 2017 wildfire, we witnessed how the land can regenerate when given time and care.
Guests can experience this recovery through guided walks that explore fire ecology and biodiversity, offering a tangible understanding of how resilient natural landscapes can be.
Launching this May, the new 4km Wildland Walk builds on this approach, taking guests deeper into the regenerating wilderness on a guided, immersive route that showcases the evolving ecosystems, returning wildlife and the ongoing story of the land’s renewal.
How do you balance luxury hospitality with adventure?
We describe the experience as rugged luxury. Guests enjoy beautifully designed accommodation, excellent food and attentive service, while still feeling fully immersed in the wilderness.
Comfort enhances the experience without overshadowing the authenticity of the landscape.

What key message would you like Selling Travel readers to take away?
