Shuttle service a must for popular Moraine Lake

Shuttle service a must for popular Moraine Lake

Agents should be aware of a change that affects their fly-drive clients heading to the Rockies in Alberta this year.

Parks Canada has announced that Moraine Lake will be closed to private vehicles in 2023 and that visitors accessing the park will need to catch a Park and Ride shuttle bus – which must be pre-booked due to heavy demand.

The Parks Canada shuttle services will run from the Lake Louise Ski Resort and Roam public transit between the busy months from June to mid-October.

In addition, several Banff Lake Louise Tourism Bureau (BLLT) members offer tours and transport out to Moraine Lake.

The move has been made due to capacity pressures and long-term environmental concerns.

Alberta has prioritised reducing traffic to its parks and there will likely be future further moves for park and ride shuttles to the more popular (crowded) places.
