Agents are reporting a huge increase in solo holidays, spurring Shearings’ creation of new solo product

Coach tour company Shearings has added new solo traveller product for 2026 after seeing huge demand across 2025 so far and feedback from agent partners.

“We have recently added three new European solo tours for 2026 to meet demand; all our solo holidays that have departed in 2025 so far have travelled with full coaches,” said Matthew Herbert, Group Product Manager.

The three new tours are ‘The Dolomites and Lake Garda for Solo Travellers’, priced at £1,391 for nine days; ‘The Delightful Costa Blanca for Solo Travellers’, from £1,949 for 14 days; and ‘Delights of the Austrian Tyrol for Solo Travellers’, costing £1,249 for nine days.

Across the Leger Shearings Group, Leger Holidays currently features 27 tours for solo travellers and Shearings has 19 solo trips on offer.

Leger Shearings Group’s Head of Retail Sales Ashley Dellow has also been out and about talking to travel agents and this is what he’s hearing about solo travel tours :

  • Agents are seeing a huge increase in solo holidays, where travellers want their own room and privacy, whether they are travelling alone, or with a friend
  • Solo tours are becoming more varied, exciting, cultural, active, themed –  giving solo travellers the incentive and confidence to travel further afield
  • Travellers who meet on tour are forging great friendships and then booking future tours together (but still not wanting to share a room)
  • One agent said they had seen a 20% YOY rise in their solo holiday bookings
  • Many travel agents have now created solo clubs where they bring single travellers and tour ops offering solo trips together, to meet each other and talk about their products
  • Many solo travellers, actually have partners but they have different holiday preferences and so take some trips alone (it’s a myth you have to be single to go on a solo traveller tour).

Additionally, Shearings will kick off 2026 with 27 brand-new holidays across the UK and Europe.

12 new European tours are now available in travel agents’ 2026 stock brochure via BP TradeGate, including ‘All Ships Race-Antwerp 2026’; and ‘Polish Winter Wonderland:Krakow and Zakopane’. Tours range from four to 14 days, with prices starting at £399pp for the four-day ‘Lovely Lille and Beautiful Bruges Escape’.

Shearings has also unveiled 15 UK and Ireland tours for 2026. Highlights include the ‘Coast to Coast- Dublin, Galway and Waterford’; and ‘5-Star Potters Resorts Hopton-on-Sea’ from Shearings’ Signature Collection.

Tours range from three to six days, starting at £199pp for the ‘Mini-Break: Coasting Through North Yorkshire’ covering Scarborough, Whitby and a nostalgic railway weekend.

And for a limited time, Shearings’ £1pp deposit deal is back, with nothing else for customers to pay until either 56 or 75 days before departure, depending on the type of holiday booked.
