Saddle up at Thanksgiving Ranch

Saddle up at Thanksgiving Ranch

Thanksgiving Ranch in Pincher Creek has introduced new horse riding tours. The rides come with a knowledgeable guide and breathtaking views of the Alberta Foothills.

The trail itself gives riders vistas of the nearby Canadian Rocky Mountains, rich wildlife and meadows dotted with wildflowers.

Located three hours south of Calgary, the experience is tailored to the comfort and riding level of the guest, with a mix of experiences for novices and those who are a pro in the saddle.

The two-hour package, costing $145pp, features an introduction to your horse and rider briefing to increase confidence, followed by trotting and loping on the level terrain of the trails and by the Creekside.

The four-hour package, priced at $290pp, for those who have more advanced skill or ride regularly, heads to higher ground and takes in a longer distance. Depending on where the cattle are, the trip may include a ride through the cattle herd.

All rides have small group sizes to allow a decent distance between horses.

There are also plenty of other outdoor activities located nearby including Waterton Lakes National Park and Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and less than 30 minutes away.
