The new mountain treks coincide with National Walking Month in May

Exodus Adventure Travels has launched four new walking and trekking adventures in time for National Walking Month.

Held in May, the annual initiative promotes the benefits of walking, encouraging people to organise walking challenges and group walks.

‘Glamping on the Inca Trail’ is a nine-day trip where trekkers will enjoy chef-prepared food, massages and comfortable beds as they hike along the Urubamba River, through cloud forests and past crumbling fortresses.

Exodus has designed the trip so that more time is spent on the route ahead of arriving at Machu Picchu. The trip includes two visits to the site, allowing plenty of time for guided exploration. Other highlights include a full day walking around the Sacred Valley.

Hikers on the 11-day ‘Everest Treks in Comfort’ will experience the mountain’s trails, guided by experts, bedding down in lodges. As travellers walk the trails, they will witness Sherpa culture up close and soak up the landscapes that surround the world’s highest mountain.

Exodus provides one staff member for every four hikers and the ascent is carefully planned to consider acclimatisation and contingency days.

The GR20 in Corsica, France, is one of the longest mountain treks in Europe. On this Trek the GR20 of Corsica route walkers hike 180km, reaching peaks of 2,600m accompanied by memorable mountain scenery.

Led by an experienced International Mountain Leader, the walk follows the less-popular south-to-north route, meaning travellers walk away from the sun on a quieter trail. The trip combines camping and hotel accommodation.

On the Mera Peak Climb, the itinerary allows those who are craving a challenge to trek Nepal’s highest peak of 6,475m. They will view five of the six highest mountains in the world including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu.

Other highlights include discovering hidden valleys and hiking amongst rhododendron forests.
