Québec gears up for major summer events

Québec will see an array of star-studded events this summer, including a music festival, exhibitions and sporting attractions.

Festival d’été de Québec, which will take place from July 4-14, is set to host some of the biggest names in music. The Jonas Brothers, 50 Cent, Post Malone, Nickelback and Carly Rae Jepsen are just some of the artists performing.

Travellers can also look forward to the Gladiators – Heroes of the Colosseum exhibition at Musée de la civilisation from June 21-September 22. There will be a behind-the-scenes peek of the Colosseum in Rome and a fascinating insight into 150 artefacts.

Another exhibition is In Other Words, Québec. This permanent event will showcase history specific to the Canadian region’s evolution, as well as the issues it faces today. Travellers will see a ‘thousand and one encounters that have forged Quebec over time’. Dates will be announced in due course.

For sporting fans, the Transat Québec Saint-Malo will celebrate its 10th anniversary from June 20-30. Ocean runners will set off on the St Lawrence River to cross the Atlantic to la Manche.

The XTERRA World Cup, meanwhile, will be presented at Lac Delage from July 8-14. Open-water swimming, mountain biking and trail running are the highlights of this cross-triathlon competition.

Travellers can also find a new free street arts event named Réverbère. Performances will showcase singing, dancing, circus or theatre in public spaces.
