New self-drive and gastronomy tours for Catalonia

Tour operator Caminos by Casas Cantabricas has developed a programme of self-drive touring holidays in Catalonia.

Launched this week, there are eight routes to choose from, ranging from seven nights to two weeks. Hikers will enjoy the high Pyrenees on the Cami de Ronda coastal path which skirts the Costa Brava, foodies will delight in the vineyards and rice fields of the far south, and art lovers will be spoilt for choice in the museums of Barcelona.

Additionally, a new gastronomy tour is set to debut in 2025. The tour will be split into 15 parts, covering all the top food and drink experiences across the region.

‘Savour the Grand Tour of Catalonia’ will offer 15 unique stops showcasing the best of gastronomy. The circular route will begin and end in Barcelona, with itineraries across the region taking in Montserrat, the Pyrenees, Penedès, Costa Daurada and Girona to name a few.

Activities will range from tours of wineries and olive groves, to explorations of organic and sustainable produce.

In other news, the structure of Sagrada familia is expected to be completed in 2025, in the same year as the centenary of Gaudi’s death, with many associated events taking place.
