Building work on the first ever hotel to be set in the heart of the Calgary Stampede grounds will commence this year.
Set over 13-storeys, the boutique property will include restaurants, a lobby bar, a coffee shop and a rooftop lounge. A south-facing ‘leisure terrace’ will feature an activity pool, jacuzzi and outdoor bar. There will also be an indoor swimming pool and fitness club.
The hotel is set to be completed in late 2028.
Other new openings will include Basin Glacial Waters, a thermal bath experience available exclusively to guests of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, set to open this summer; Element in Calgary with 226 suites and a rooftop restaurant, opening late June; and the upcoming Alexander Hotel Spa in Canmore, which will feature 45 rooms and be located in the Spring Creek Mountain Village, and is due to open early 2027.
In other hotel news, the Rimrock hotel in Banff is closing for major renovations from October 2025.
Dating back to 1884, The Rimrock is situated on Sulphur Mountain, with 360-degree mountain vistas and just minutes from Banff. It will reopen in spring 2026.
