The Sam Centre in Calgary is due to open in spring 2024 and will tell the story of the legendary Calgary Stampede year-round.
The Calgary Stampede, dubbed ‘The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth’, is a renowned event in Alberta, attracting over one million guests every year. This new attraction will focus on bringing to life the stories at the heart of the Stampede.
A series of immersive exhibits includes the Ross Glen Gallery, which will feature artefacts, art and a tactile maker space, in co-creation with the community. Each exhibit will focus on story sharing.
The Scown Gallery puts visitors at the centre of the Stampede story, through hands-on and interactive exhibits which will showcase the history, peoples and culture that shape the event.
The Stampede Experience is eight-minutes of adrenaline, as visitors experience what it’s like to be part of the event. Featuring an immersive 360-degree space with haptic floors and life-sized images, guests will experience the music, pounding hooves, cheers and laughter of the Stampede.
The attraction will be located in Stampede Park, southeast of downtown Calgary, with onsite parking available and a range of public transport options.
