Icelandair is to start a new service to Miami, Florida, this autumn.

The route between the airline’s hub at Keflavik International Airport in Reykjavik, Iceland, and Miami International Airport kicks off on October 26.

The service will initially operate with three weekly flights, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and will run until March 2026.

Icelandair’s new Airbus A321LR will operate the eight-hour flight.

Miami has been added as the airline’s second gateway and is its 19th destination in North America.

Icelandair operates several flights a day to Iceland’s capital from four UK departure points: London Heathrow (14 per week), London Gatwick (seven per week), Glasgow (seven per week) and Manchester (four per week).

Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair, said: “We are thrilled to be opening a new gateway from Europe to sunny Florida via Iceland and from Miami to Iceland and beyond.

“With the new long-range and fuel-efficient Airbus aircraft we can add new and exciting destinations and Miami is a great addition. Miami will fit well into our route network, with convenient connections via Iceland to our 34 destinations in Europe. Welcome aboard Miami!”
