RSVP to Guernsey for a great night & holiday prizes
by Steve Hartridge
Visit Guernsey is encouraging agents to sign up to its three agent evenings later this month with the promise of a holiday for two prize being given away at each.
The tourist board has teamed up with Selling Travel to visit three UK destinations – Glasgow (February 25), Leeds (February 26), and Gatwick (February 27) – to give agents ideas and inspiration for selling the Channel Island.
The evenings will provide agents with a host of information and include the chance to ask questions to an expert panel comprised of representatives from Visit Guernsey and tour operator partners: Airways Holidays, Premier Holidays and Prestige Holidays.
Food and drink will be provided on the night and the team will also be bringing over local produce from Guernsey suppliers, such as craft gin and fudge. A prize draw will take place each night for a holiday for two with flights, accommodation and an island tour included.
Guernsey, which sits just off the French coast, is a self-governing British Crown Dependency but its British citizens live in a warmer, sunnier climate than the UK and speak with distinctive local dialects that have their roots in medieval Norman.
The mild weather draws outdoorsy types, particularly for hiking and biking, as well as those into more adrenalin-inducing activities like surfing, kayaking, coasteering and diving off its many sandy beaches.
Guernsey's many ancient remains and neolithic graves will appeal to history buffs and local produce - from local seafood to ice cream - means there’s plenty for gourmets as well.
Visit Guernsey’s Marketing Manager, Wendy Pedder said: “We are increasing our efforts to work with UK travel agents and the three Destination Dialogue evenings we have planned this month with Selling Travel are a key initiative. The events will be fun and informal but we want agents to leave with an increased awareness of the island and with new enthusiasm and interest to sell it – and perhaps a great prize too!”
