by Jessica Pook

New tours to Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Egypt and Israel are all included in Cox & Kings’ new Middle East programme for 2020.

The tour operator is capitalising on the region following a 50% increase in visitors compared to the same time last year. Its escorted tours have increased by 51% and tailor-made numbers by 48%, which it attributes to continued confidence in the region’s security.

Kyrgyszstan has been re-introduced to the programme with the Colours of Kyrgyszstan group tour. Priced from £1,995pp, the 10-day trip includes an overnight stay in a traditional yurt to learn about locals' semi-nomadic lifestyle. The  operator has introduced a combined Oman & Zanzibar private tour which sees guests travel to Stone Town in Zanzibar to retrace the legacy of Omani rule and the two country's spice trade history, before continuing to Oman to explore Muscat, and Nizwa on the edge of the Hajar mountains. From £3,795pp.

Jordan is Cox & Kings' most popular destination for the second year running and as a result it has added three new private tours. The five-night Taste of Jordan tour, from £1,795pp, visits the capital of Amman, the Roman remains of Jerash and  Petra with a 4WD desert excursion. Highlights of Jordan, from £2,045pp, is a nine-night trip visiting the Dead and Red seas, two days at Petra and a night in the desert.
