Luxury DMC Wilderness Group launches
by Jessica Pook
The Wilderness Group is a new trade-facing luxury, active and experiential DMC selling the UK and Ireland.
Combining the local expertise of three specialist tour operators: Wilderness Scotland, Wilderness Ireland and Wilderness England, the new Wilderness Group aims to work with tour operators and travel agents to create bespoke itineraries across the UK and Ireland.
Each trip – whether in the Ready to Book, Ready to Customise or Beyond Luxury category – has an element of culture, wildlife and the great outdoors.
The operator describes its trips as having “an impactful element of rich, cultural immersion, and insider experiences that would not be bookable without their team’s local contacts and expertise.”
Highlights include a seven-night Bayond Luxury: Scotland Wild Luxury trip, travelling from south to north by helicopter, high-speed zodiac and steam train, and visiting both the Hebridean islands and Loch Ness. Clients will stay in three castles and and spend one night under the stars at a luxury camp on a small Hebridean island. Prices are available uponn request.
Ready to book is a six-night Northern Ireland Hiking Highlights guided trip, priced from €2,530pp. Featuring challenging hill walks, coastal hikes, wildlife spotting and Irish folklore, clients will ramble through Northern Ireland’s rugged Mourne Mountains and sweep down to the Causeway Coast, before sailing to Rathlin Island.
The Wilderness Group’s Business Development Manager Russell Murray said: “After 2020, Covid and the complex restrictions on overseas travel, increasing numbers of people are prioritising a staycation. They want a trip that will deliver a top-quality holiday experience on a par with anything they have experienced abroad.
“With our unrivalled little black book of contacts, a large collection of un-Googleable experiences, and our team of expert wilderness guides, we are able to deliver an almost limitless variety of trips for our partners’ clients, from wild camping on the beaches of deserted islands to stays in lofty lighthouses or luxury wilderness lodges.”
The Wilderness Group offers travel agents booking clients on the scheduled range of tours up to 15% commission and is looking to work with agents’ teams to support content or product training requirements.
