EasyJet Holidays re-launches with 5,000 hotels

EasyJet’s new package holiday website went live today (November 28), selling holidays in more than 100 destinations across Europe.

Utilising its 330 aircraft flying up to 670 routes a day, EasyJet aims to target the 300 million passengers across Europe that live within one hour of an EasyJet airport, although it is launching to the UK market first.

EasyJet Holidays is directly contracting hotels for the first time (around 500) but will offer 5,000 ‘handpicked’ hotels in total.

Its hotels will range from two- to five-star and be sorted into categories. A beach collection will include Luxury, Adult, Family and Undiscovered hotels – the latter described as “authentic accommodation off the beaten track”. For city breaks, the hotels will be sorted into Luxury and Boutique.

All holidays will include 23kg of baggage per person and transfers will be included with beach holidays.

The website will feature TripAdvisor ratings, use AI to learn and personalise the experience for users and offer mapping technology so that customers can explore a resort virtually to see where key attractions are in relation to hotels. It will also include sample itinerary-style guides for some of its city destinations.

Prior to the launch around 500,000 of the airline’s 200 million customers booked an EasyJet holiday annually, but it is targeting one million customers by the end of 2020.

The initial launch will be summer product but EasyJet Holidays plans to launch winter holidays in the spring.

Chief Executive of EasyJet Holidays, Garry Wilson, said he is consulting with agencies on how to work with the trade in the future: “Clearly we are an online business but we see a place for agents as long as we can avoid adding complexity, because that adds to the cost of the holiday.”
