Co-Operative Travel to host virtual conference for homeworkers
by Jessica Pook
The Personal Travel Agents at Co-Operative Travel will be advised on how to revive their businesses as part of the group's eighth annual conference.
Taking place from September 15-17, the event will use virtual workshops to explore how homeworkers can bounce back by strengthening enquiries, marketing, sales and earnings and also find ways to revive their passion for travel.
The conference will kick off with a welcome and business update from Midcounties Co-Operative’s CEO Phil Ponsoby, Travel Group Chief Operating Officer Rad Sofronijevic and Head of The Personal Travel Agents Sheena Whittle. It will also feature a Personal Travel Agent panel discussion and will wrap-up with a virtual bar on Thursday afternoon.
Planned workshops, which will be repeated across the three days, include: ‘Revive You and Your Business’, which will focus on steps the PTAs can take to nurture themselves and thrive during this challenging time; ‘Marketing Bounce Back’, which will look at ways agents can communicate what they do every day for their customers; and ‘Unleashing the Power of Teams’, which will train agents on how to maximise Microsoft Teams to arrange video appointments with customers in the new era of video chat.
Other sessions will cover how homeworkers can utilise the group's in-house supplier, Co-Operative Holidays, plus advice on how to make bookings in the new normal and 'Back to Basics with ATOL'.
Sheena Whittle, Head of The Personal Travel Agents at Co-operative Travel, said: “2020 has seen many a challenge thrown our way and, after the disruption to the travel industry and the changes we have all had to face these past six months, we feel it's time to hit the restart button and explore what travel will look like in the weeks and months ahead and how our Personal Travel Agents can not only revive their businesses but thrive.
"We are in the fortunate and strong position of being part of the wider Midcounties Co-operative and we are excited about helping our agents to utilise the consumer awareness and confidence in the Co-Op brand to increase their market share and make the absolute best of the coming months.”
