Ajman Emotive about lofty tourism goals

by Selling Travel Editorial

Ajman Tourism has appointed Emotive Travel Marketing as its new representative office for the UK & Ireland.

One of the seven United Arab Emirates, Ajman is looking to position itself a must-visit destination in the region and a major tourism player on the global stage.

Ajman, one of the quieter emirates, is hoping to attract those visitors looking for a more secluded and tranquil holiday.

Just a 30-minute drive from Dubai Airport, its attributes include a growing number of hotels, a wide range of beachfront properties spread along its pristine coast, indoor and outdoor activities – such as a world-class 18-hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus – and an eclectic line-up of cultural attractions.

These include The Ajman Museum, which opened in 1981 and is set in an eighteenth-century fort. Among the main exhibits here are discoveries such as distinctive red-clay pottery, uncovered in 1986 at Al Muwayhat and now classified as a major archaeological site.

Ajman was once the region’s largest boat-building centre, with many of the thousands of dhows which sailed through the Arabian Gulf built in its shipyards. Visitors can learn about this history and see boats being built at the Dhow Yard.

H.E. Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of Ajman Tourism
commented: “ETM brings strong experience through their vast knowledge of tourism landmarks and closely working with Government entities. We are confident that the ETM team will add success to the destination through their strong relationships with travel partners in the UK and Ireland.”

Chris Lee, Managing Director of ETM, said: “We are thrilled to be marketing Ajman to both trade and consumers across the UK & Ireland, and are keen to approach as many agents and operators as possible in the upcoming months. The whole team are in place and have already started working on some considerable plans that will be announced to the trade very soon.”

ETM’s Account Director for Ajman, Mary Murphy, will be advising tour operators and travel agents on the attractions Ajman destination has to offer, as it moves away from its status as the UAE's 'hidden gem'.

Agents should look out for details of virtual roadshows being planned to highlight Ajman’s appeal.
